Barcelona’s plans for January could see a few interesting developments within their young squad, and one name quietly being discussed behind the scenes is that of Marc Bernal

According to a recent update from Mundo Deportivo, the talented La Masia midfielder has not ruled out any options for the upcoming winter transfer window.

That means his future could depend heavily on how much game time he gets in the coming weeks and how he responds to those opportunities.

After returning from a lengthy injury layoff earlier this season, Bernal has been gradually eased back into the squad by Hansi Flick, who appears to be managing the youngster’s minutes carefully.

No consistent minutes

While Bernal is yet to start a game under Flick, this does not reflect a lack of trust from the manager – quite the contrary.

Flick is said to hold the teenager in high regard but is taking a cautious approach to avoid any recurrence of injury or physical overload.

Notably, the midfielder made his comeback against Valencia before spending the next two matches, against Newcastle and Getafe, on the bench.

He later featured briefly against Oviedo, missed the clash with Real Sociedad, and returned again for the encounter with PSG.

His appearances have continued in this stop-start rhythm, missing fixtures against Sevilla, Girona, and then Real Madrid, Elche, and Club Brugge.

So what now?

Barcelona are set to play Celta Vigo tomorrow for their final match before the international break.

After that, the schedule becomes intense, with eight matches lined up before Christmas.

The club is reportedly not planning to sanction a loan move for Bernal just yet, believing that “his time will come.”

However, sources suggest that a loan deal remains a possibility, depending on Bernal’s performances, his reaction to limited minutes, and how the coaching staff evaluate his progress heading into January.
