Talks are underway! Juve are serious about this Bayern star

There are increasing signs that Raphaël Guerreiro will leave FC Bayern sooner or later – the only crucial question is: when? After a first half of the season in which the Portuguese has barely been able to move beyond the role of a rotation player, interest from other top clubs is growing. And many observers are increasingly suggesting that a departure could become a reality as early as January.

Guerreiro is currently not playing a major role in Munich, but is much more popular with other clubs. According to Portuguese media reports, Benfica Lisbon in particular are working hard to sign him. Head coach José Mourinho is a great admirer of the 31-year-old – and sees him as an immediate boost to the quality of his team. A move to Benfica would also have an emotional appeal, as Guerreiro has never played professionally in Portugal, but is considered a big Benfica fan.

The hot lead to Italy also remains intact. According to Tuttosport, Juventus Turin have recently intensified their contact with the player and are keen to complete the deal in the winter transfer window. The Italian record champions are urgently looking for a flexible left-back who can help immediately – and see Guerreiro as an ideal solution.

Bayern have not yet made a decision

For FC Bayern, a sale in January would be the last chance to generate a transfer fee. The Portuguese’s contract expires in the summer, and so far there is little to suggest that the Munich club will push for an extension.

Nevertheless, no final decision has yet been made internally. Vincent Kompany values Guerreiro enormously – especially his tactical intelligence and variability. The Belgian sees him as a player who can interpret almost any position on the left and in midfield. Guerreiro has always been a valuable tool for Kompany, especially in tight phases.

However, the facts speak against a long-term future. With Hiroki Ito’s comeback and the imminent return of Alphonso Davies, Bayern have a much broader base at left-back. Added to this is Tom Bischof, who has shown impressively in recent weeks that he can operate reliably at left-back.

Should Guerreiro express a desire to move in January and a club such as Juventus or Benfica offer an attractive transfer fee, it would not be surprising if Bayern gave the green light for an early departure. The reserve role, the expiring contract and the new width in the squad suggest that the two sides will part ways sooner or later.
