The president of Talleres Andres Fassi has confirmed the negotiations over the transfer of Tomas Palacios to Inter Milan while revealing another possible destination.

The Serie A giants have been searching the market for a young left-footed defender for several weeks. They have now identified the 21-year-old as the right profile to serve as Alessandro Bastoni’s understudy.

Palacios is a physically imposing centre-back who also boasts impressive technical skills.

The youngster started his career at Talleres but has exploded on the scene this season while on loan at Independiente Rivadavia.

The latter club has the option to buy 50% of the player’s contract at the end of the year and the other half in December 2025.

Therefore, Inter are negotiating the transfer with Independiente Rivadavia, while the Argentine club is discussing the move with their compatriots Talleres, reveals Fassi.

“We are negotiating with Independiente Rivadavia the transfer of Tomás Palacios to Italy,” said the Talleres president in his interview with El Mesa del Futbol via FcInterNews.

But while most accounts in Italy and Argentina claim Inter are close to sealing the deal, Fassi warns the Nerazzurri about possible competition from Germany.

“There is also an option in Germany,” revealed the club patron.

So it remains to be seen if Inter will heed the warning and accelerate their attempts to land the promising defender.

Sources believe the Nerazzurri are ready to splash around 6.5 million euros to snatch the player’s services.

He would be the club’s fourth addition to the senior squad since the start of the summer.

The Italian champions have bolstered their attack by snapping up Mehdi Taremi and added quality to the middle of the park in the shape of Piotr Zielinski.

The Nerazzurri also bought Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martinez, but are yet to add a new defender to their ranks.
