Corinthians shift focus to the Brasileiro Feminino quarter-finals, visiting Cruzeiro for the first leg on Monday, 31 August at 19:15 at Arena Independência, with Tamires tasked with containing the league’s leading scorer so far, Marília Furiel.
According to Meu Timao, the experienced left-back praised Furiel’s surge yet insisted her own priority will be to blunt Cruzeiro’s attacks, adding with a smile that she hopes the forward does not shine.
The tie reprises last season’s final, when Corinthians drew 2-2 in Minas Gerais then clinched the title 1-0 at home. Anticipating a tactically demanding contest against a well-drilled opponent, Tamires urged the team to impose their game to secure progression.
The return is scheduled for seven September at 17:00, venue to be confirmed. Inside the club there is hope of staging it at Neo Química Arena, which would be free in that period, with the men’s side hosting Chapecoense on six September. Tamires urged the board, naming president Osmar Stabile, and told supporters she is sure the stadium will be full if the venue is confirmed.
The clubs have met once already this season, on 18 May, when Cruzeiro won 3-2 at Arena do Jacaré in Sete Lagoas, with Andressa Alves and Jaqueline scoring for Corinthians. The Brabas are aiming to extend their national dominance, having lifted seven Brasileiro titles in 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
