Tarragona praises Unión's spirit: «This point must be valued»

Cristian Tarragona analyzed Unión’s 2-2 draw against Platense at the start of the Clausura Tournament and, beyond the frustration of conceding the equalizer in the final minutes, felt that the point earned in Vicente López carries significant value given the context of the match.

The forward was one of the attacking references in Leonardo Madelón’s team and highlighted the character Tatengue showed to come back from an unfavorable score away from home.

“We’re leaving frustrated because we were very close to taking all three points, but this point has to be valued. It’s always difficult to get something away from home, especially at a ground like this,” he said.

Tarragona also focused on the squad’s collective effort and the response from the younger players, who had to take on an important role during the match.

“The youngsters stepped up. Many of them are just starting out in the top flight and they showed they belong here. That speaks very well of the group and of the work that’s being done.”

The attacker highlighted the identity the team is trying to impose in this new stage under Madelón’s leadership and said the squad will try to maintain that intensity throughout the championship.

“We’re a team that tries to attack, that presses, and that never gives up. That has to be our way of playing, and I think today we showed it for much of the match.”

Looking ahead, Tarragona was optimistic and said the team still has room to keep improving.

“The tournament is just beginning. There are many things to correct, but also many positive things to take away. If we keep working this way, we’re going to be a very competitive team.”

Finally, the experienced forward stressed the importance of starting the tournament by picking up points away from home and expressed confidence that Unión will be able to make themselves strong when they play in front of their fans at the 15 de Abril stadium.
