Valencia returned to training on Friday at Paterna as they fine-tuned for Sunday’s trip to La Cartuja to face Real Betis in LaLiga, with César Tárrega back working with the group.

According to Superdeporte, the defender is recovering from a medial collateral ligament sprain in his left knee sustained against Getafe on 18 January. He trained with the group for the first time since the injury, completing the full session after partial involvement on Wednesday. He is unlikely to feature in Seville, and is expected to be fit to face Real Madrid and possibly the cup tie with Athletic Club.

Dimitri Foulquier and José Copete trained normally after recent discomfort, with workloads managed to avoid setbacks. Foulquier’s return is particularly important given the lack of options at right-back.

Elsewhere, Thierry Rendall did ball work on the grass but has not yet rejoined full group training. Julen Agirrezabala and Mouctar Diakhaby continued tailored recovery away from collective drills.

Winter signings were involved, including Guido Rodríguez, who could debut against his former club Betis, and Unai Núñez, already fully integrated.

Valencia head to Seville looking to improve their league rhythm and climb from mid-table, aiming to stay well clear of the drop. Carlos Corberán’s handling of injuries and returns could broaden his options for the 22nd round.
