Tawfik Bentayeb, Ligue 2’s top scorer with 18 in 28 for Troyes last season, has agreed a four-year move to Anderlecht. The Moroccan forward did not extend his stay at Troyes after his loan ended.
Union Touarga has sold him to the Brussels club, with the transfer expected to be announced on Friday. The package is €4m plus €1m in bonuses, and 25% of any future profit on resale.
In Belgium, Bentayeb links up again with Antoine Sibierski, recently appointed as Anderlecht’s sporting director after leaving Troyes at the end of last season. Sibierski had previously brought the player to Troyes.
Troyes did not secure a near-mandatory option to buy at the time, and Bentayeb’s value rose sharply after a second prolific Ligue 2 campaign. Despite holding a clause to match rival offers, the promoted club chose not to compete.
Troyes executive president Edwin Pindi said they wanted to keep Bentayeb but the transfer fee and salary demands were beyond the club’s means.
