Martin O’Neill has named his Celtic team for this afternoon’s Premier Sports Cup Semi Final against Rangers. The Irishman assumed control of the club on an interim basis after Brendan Rodgers’ shock resignation.
After twenty years away from managing Celtic, O’Neill returned with a win as Celtic beat Falkirk midweek. Now, the interim manager will be looking to secure Celtic’s passage to the League Cup Final with St Mirren awaiting.
In goals, Kasper Schmeichel starts. The Dane had been deputising to Vil Sinisalo in the competition but MON has gone with the experienced keeper.
An unchanged back four and midfield starts. Tony Ralston at right back with Marcelo Saracchi at left back with Auston Trusty and Liam Scales as the central pairing.
Callum McGregor captains the side. He is joined in the midfield with Arne Engels and Benji Nygren.
Johnny Kenny leads the line with Daizen Maeda and Seb Tounetki in the wide areas.
Kieran Tierney, Reo Hatate and James Forrest will also be on hand to come on and make AJ impact if required. It was a drab 0-0 when the sides met at the beginning of the season; this promises to be a different affair.
Subs: Sinisalo, Balikwisha, Yang, Osmand, Hatate, Murray, Forrest & Tierney.
Come on Celtic!
