In the wake of Barcelona’s astounding 6-0 win over Valencia, there is much optimism in the Catalan camp as they look to return to the iconic Camp Nou later this month.

La Liga president Javier Tebas spoke to the media (h/t AS), addressing Barcelona’s stadium conflict as well as the Villarreal game, which the league wants to be hosted in Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

The biggest headline from this matchday was Barcelona playing their home game at the 6,000-seater Estadi Johan Cruyff.

This is due to the fact that the club did not receive the necessary permit to return to Camp Nou just yet. In fact, Barcelona’s next home game may also be played at the same stadium.

Tebas painted Estadi Johan Cruyff as Barcelona’s lucky charm of sorts, pointing to the recent 6-0 win over Valencia.

“Barcelona are in good form, 6-0. Much has been written and said about the stadium. LaLiga is here to push clubs with their stadium renovations,” he said.

Barcelona are aiming for a return to Camp Nou later in the game, with the September 28 game against Real Sociedad earmarked as a potential return date.

Tebas was also asked about the league game between Barcelona and Villarreal, with La Liga pushing for it to be hosted in Miami.

This move hasn’t gone down well with many La Liga clubs as well as the AFA. But with UEFA remaining coy, the matter may go to the CSD.

“We can’t say yes or no. We can’t force anyone. The rules say it’s up to the clubs to request to play away,” he said.

Tebas also responded to Atletico Madrid CEO Enrique Cerezo’s recent comments, stating, “We already know they are bipolar. Sometimes they’re interested, sometimes they aren’t. Atletico have wanted to go other times.”
