Tedesco confirms Rowe is out of Bologna squad amid €40m Atalanta speculation | OneFootball

Bologna head coach Domenico Tedesco has confirmed that Jonathan Rowe will not be part of the matchday squad for Monday evening’s Serie A match against Atalanta, amidst transfer speculation linking the Englishman with a €40m move to La Dea.

Tedesco confirms Rowe will not be involved in Atalanta vs. Bologna

Rowe has been the subject of a series of transfer bids from Atalanta this summer, including an initial €30m attempt and another improved offer worth €35m plus bonuses. The latest reports indicate that Atalanta are willing to take their offer up to the €40m mark.

The two sides are due to meet in Bergamo in Serie A on Monday evening, kicking off at 19.45 BST, and Bologna head coach Tedesco has confirmed that Rowe is not currently in the right state of mind to play.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Sunday, Tedesco confirmed: “I thought he’s not been at his best, so we’ve decided to leave him at home for this game.”

Bologna’s 2026-27 Serie A campaign began with a 1-0 defeat at home against Lazio last Monday.

“It leaves us with zero points,” said Tedesco when asked where the defeat leaves the team in terms of their preparation. “We all expected more from the first home league game. We trained well but we lacked the intensity. We trained well again this week. We’re at the beginning of our journey and we’re still in a period of growth.”

Tedesco admitted that it will be difficult to field Riccardo Orsolini and Federico Bernardeschi in the same starting XI.

“The situation is clear, otherwise we’ll have to talk about this position for the whole season. Bernardeschi prefers to play on the wing. We have two strong players on that side and week by week, we will choose the strongest. Even those who come on in the 60th minute can give the team a boost.”

And what does Tedesco expect to see from Atalanta?

“I expect a strong team that is playing well at the moment. They have a fixed system and they probably won’t change that. They’re good at everything they do.”
