Tension in the Real Madrid dressing room after 0-2 defeat to Celta Vigo – report | OneFootball

Real Madrid appear to be in a full-blown crisis mood after suffering a 0-2 defeat to Celta Vigo on Sunday night back at the Santiago Bernabeu.

While it seemed like the win against Athletic Club could be a turning point, it only proved to be a false dawn as the Merengues were outplayed by Celta at the weekend, with the team looking disjointed, leading to loud boos and whistles from the home support.

Rifts in the locker room

Now, according to El Chiringuito (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Real Madrid’s defeat against Celta Vigo hit the squad hard. The team’s performance, both in terms of football and in their behaviour with protests and expulsions, has left a damaged image.

After the loss against Celta, Xabi Alonso, under pressure, is understood to have not entered the dressing room for even one second. There was no talk or any contact from the manager with the players after the match.

Furthermore, the report added that frustrations boiled over in the locker room after the loss to Celta Vigo, with bottles and tape and other things getting thrown around.

As per the report, a part of the locker room was extremely angry with the referees and the decisions made on the field on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, another part of the squad hit out at those pointing fingers at the refereeing, saying that it was ‘only an excuse’, and the team, as a whole, should be performing better, and now they are ‘throwing away the league’.

It is further claimed that there has been an internal divide in the locker room for some time. In recent weeks there has been talk of players who support Alonso and others who do not.

While it appeared that everything was settled and in the rearview mirror after the wins over Olympiacos and Athletic Club, it seems like those were only masking over the facade.
