Coach Gian Piero Gasperini opted to remain silent following the Lecce win to avoid complaining again about the lack of additions so far. He’s set for a meeting with the owners, who have flown to Italy, Corriere dello Sport informs.
The gaffer would have liked more swiftness and expected the arrival of Giacomo Raspadori at the start of the window. The Giallorossi have struck a deal with Atletico Madrid for €2.5M loan with a €19M option to buy. However, they haven’t completely wooed the player for now. He’s unconvinced about the formula, perceives Diego Simeone’s trust, and is also flirting with Napoli. He’s been called up for the Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, which will delay the negotiation.
Roma have endured another blow, at least timing-wise, as Manchester United fired Ruben Amorin, which raises doubts regarding Joshua Zirkzee’s departure. In addition, Artem Dovbyk is feared to have suffered a serious injury against Lecce, which would vanquish any hope of selling or trading him in January.
The Giallorossi aren’t focusing only on the attack. They have laid eyes on Jayden Oosterwolde, who can star either as a center-back or on the wing. Fenerbahce signed him from Parma for €6M in 2023. His valuation has since grown significantly.
It took only half a season for Gasperini to be comfortable enough to pull off the same shenanigans he did at Atalanta when he was disgruntled. He’s not necessarily wrong, but he should be aware of their financial constraints by now. They are chasing some ambitious targets that take some patience. It’s not a good mix with their current emergency and the thick schedule.
