Terracciano reflects on midfield role and first months at Milan: “I suffered” | OneFootball

Filippo Terracciano got the chance from start in Verona-Milan, albeit in the midfield tandem, and he did a good job under the circumstances. In his post-match interview, he revealed that it hasn’t been easy to adapt to such a big club.

Terracciano arrived in January this year from Hellas Verona, coincidentally, but never really got the chance under Stefano Pioli. In one of his first appearances, he caused a penalty and that was the start of a long journey.

Yesterday, he played from start in the midfield tandem and got a 6/10 in our player ratings, doing an okay job overall. Speaking to DAZN and MilanTV after the game, Terracciano shared his thoughts on the performance and what it has been like since joining Milan.

“It was important for me to come in with the right attitude. When you don’t play consistently, it’s difficult to always be in the right rhythm. Today the game was a war as we expected and we played the game we had to play.”

Did you have special tasks against Suslov?

“Even when we trained together, it was a war between the two of us, we have this combative character. But there is maximum respect: they were fights between friends.”

On his position…

“The truth, which many people don’t know, is that it’s an area of ​​the pitch where I like to play and feel most comfortable with my characteristics. So I’m happy to have been able to fight in that role.”

Tell us about your journey at Milan? How heavy is this shirt to wear?

“I have to say that I suffered from the adaptation, not only because it was Milan, a reality with great champions, but it was also the first time that I left home and went to live alone. After a few months, my girlfriend arrived who gave me more emotional stability. It was an aspect that I had underestimated a bit.

“Then after that I did some mental work, carried out with a professional, it helped me a lot. I felt that the gap between me and my teammates was not technical but mental. By adapting and becoming more confident, everything is easier, when you are free in your head the qualities come out.”

Roma are up next for Milan and it remains to be seen if Terracciano will get the chance again. Christian Pulisic should be back for the game and thus might take the No.10 role, but it depends on whether Fonseca wants Samuel Chukwueze on the right flank still.
