Thaisinha returned to action for Santos’ Sereias da Vila after seven months, featuring in a 3-0 defeat to São Paulo in Cotia in Brasileirão round 12 on Monday, 25 May. She was introduced 28 minutes into the second half.

According to Diario Do Peixe, she acknowledged the team’s poor run and stressed the importance of the next match before the calendar pause.

The attacking midfielder said she was delighted to be back and had been counting the days, but accepted it was not the dream return and expressed her regret. She added that immediate post-match reactions would be futile and backed the squad’s potential. She believes the pause could give coach Tchelo time to reassert Santos’ identity, and said the focus now is to rest, reset and face Thursday’s Copa do Brasil knockout tie.

Thaisinha last featured in October last year, then developed knee pain. On 18 November she underwent arthroscopy on her left knee to repair cartilage and meniscus damage, followed by physiotherapy, pitch reintroduction and strength work.

She has scored 80 goals in 203 appearances for the Sereias, making her the club’s all-time leading women’s scorer. Her contract runs until December, and she is 33, born in São Paulo.

A Juventus da Mooca graduate, she first played for the Sereias from 2009 to 2011, and also represented Vitória das Tabocas and Incheon Hyundai in South Korea before returning to the Alvinegro in 2020. She has been called up by Brazil, and with Santos has won Paulista da LINAF 2009, Paulistão 2010 and 2011, Copa do Brasil 2009, Torneio Internacional 2011, Copa Libertadores 2009 and 2010, Jogos Abertos do Interior 2010 and Copa Paulista 2024.
