Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion are set to have five absentees each when they clash at Bramall Lane in the Championship this Saturday.

The Blades successfully defeated Queens Park Rangers 2-0 last Saturday, but Chris Wilder's men are still nine points adrift of the play-offs, meaning they are unlikely to compete for a place in next season's Premier League.

Meanwhile, West Brom haven't won a Championship game since beating QPR 2-1 on 29 December, and sit just one point clear of the relegation zone.

Leicester City's six-point deduction is the only reason why the Baggies aren't already in the drop zone despite their woeful form.

Football League World takes a look at all the players who are set to miss the action when the Blades face Albion on Saturday, starting with the hosts.

When asked for an injury update, Wilder revealed in his press conference on Friday: "We're in a good place. I've got to say, as good a place as we've been all season on quite a lot of fronts.

"Players are looking forward to the next game. There's a real good energy about the group and not just the players that are fortunate to start the game on Saturday afternoon, but everybody around it.

"Like I said, I'm delighted in terms of the work that we've had to put in. We've gone on record in terms of the mentality of the group when we took over.

"It's improved and it's improved. Obviously, winning games of football, which we have done over the last 20-odd games or so, and climbing out of the position that we were in has made that easier but in a real good place but understanding that the danger's ahead as well if we slip, and we take a foot off the gas. I think everybody's really looking forward to the game tomorrow afternoon."

Michael Cooper

Michael Cooper has established a reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship since joining Sheffield United from Plymouth Argyle in 2024.

The Blades' play-off chances have been dealt a blow by the fact that Cooper is set to miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury, meaning that Adam Davies, who played against QPR, will likely start between the sticks for the Steel City side against West Brom.

Sam McCallum

Cooper featured for United in their recent defeat to Coventry City, but Blades defender Sam McCallum has been absent since suffering an injury in their 1-1 draw with Millwall in January.

As reported by BBC Radio Sheffield's Andy Giddings via X, Wilder feared that the former Norwich City man's setback could be 'season-ending'.

Jamie Shackleton

Jamie Shackleton has spent the majority of his Blades career sidelined through injury since joining the Steel City club on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.

Amid yet another setback, Wilder omitted the former Leeds United man from his 25-man EFL squad list in February.

Tom Davies

Like Shackleton, former Everton star Tom Davies has endured a tough time since joining United in the summer of 2023, suffering a lack of playing minutes due to fitness issues.

The 27-year-old hasn't played for the Blades since their 1-1 draw with Millwall on 31 January.

Kalvin Phillips

Alongside his injury absentees, Wilder will also be without midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who was sent off in their Steel City Derby victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

The Blades' clash with West Brom will mark the last of three games that the 30-year-old has been banned for.

Wilder also told the press on Friday: "He tweaked his knee in the Sheffield Wednesday game. Whilst it was a great day for a lot of us, unfortunately not for him in terms of the sending off and just a minor issue.

"Obviously, as soon as we get news on that, he's out suspended, as you know with his final game tomorrow. As soon as we get any news on that in the medium term, we'll let you know."

Chris Mepham

Moving on to West Brom's absentees, defender Chris Mepham is currently sidelined, and last played for the Baggies in their 0-0 draw with Stoke City on 7 February.

The centre-back played a key role in Sunderland's promotion to the Premier League last season, but could be relegated to League One with the club he joined in the summer.

Interim Baggies boss James Morrison told BBC Radio WM: "Mephs is still working along."

Nat Phillips

Another Albion centre-back who is unavailable for Saturday's trip to South Yorkshire is former Liverpool man Nat Phillips, who has made 33 Championship appearances this season.

As reported by the Express & Star, the 28-year-old suffered a thigh muscle injury when the Baggies drew 1-1 with Charlton Athletic on 24 February, and missed their 2-1 defeat against Oxford United.

Providing an update on the defender's fitness to BBC WM, Morrison said: "Nat's progressing well. Hopefully he's with us next week for training."

Tammer Bany

Phillips is a relatively fresh addition to West Brom's list of injury absentees, whereas midfielder Tammer Bany hasn't played since his cameo appearance in a 3-1 defeat to QPR in December.

As reported by BBC Sport in late December, the 22-year-old suffered a thigh injury, ruling him out for four months.

Mikey Johnston

Mikey Johnston has been a shining light in an otherwise poor Albion side this season, notching two goals and nine assists in 34 Championship appearances.

However, as shared by West Brom's official website, the former Celtic winger is set to see a specialist after suffering a stress fracture to his ankle.

Karlan Grant

Another blow to the Baggies' Championship survival chances is the fact that forward Karlan Grant suffered a hamstring injury during a 1-1 draw with Derby County on 23 January.

A West Brom statement revealed that the Hawthorns outfit remain hopeful that the 28-year-old will return before the end of the season.
