FLW looks at the players set to play no part in Saturday's Dockers derby

Ahead of the first international break of the Championship season, Millwall and West Ham United will provide one of two intense local derbies in the second tier fixture schedule this weekend.

It is the first time since a 2-1 win for the Hammers at Upton Park in February 2012 that the Dockers derby has been played out in any competition, but the Lions will certainly be hoping to put a stop to their rivals' impressive run of form.

West Ham currently sit top of the Championship having won their last four matches, including a 6-0 rout over Wrexham last Friday, but were defeated 3-2 by Fulham in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

Alex Neil saw his side go 2-0 up at Middlesbrough in the league in midweek, before Millwall were pegged back early in the second period.

Injuries have certainly impacted the start of the Lions' campaign more than the Irons, but with Saturday's game such a high-profile encounter, it will be devastating for some players that they are likely to miss out.

There are 11 of those from the two sides, and Football League World have looked at their respective situations.

Millwall

Lukas Jensen

Lukas Jensen's time at Millwall has been clouded by injury misfortune, with the Dane missing the entirety of last season through a serious ACL injury.

After recovering, he then featured in early-season victories over Bristol City and Norwich City, but has again been sidelined for a 'considerable period' through a quad injury sustained in training.

Tristan Crama

Tristan Crama is a high-profile defensive absentee for the Lions, having undergone ankle surgery in the final week of pre-season.

The 24-year-old, who was included in last season's Championship Team of the Season, had previously undergone surgery on a separate ankle issue which kept him sidelined for three months, so his current absence is also set to be long-term.

Ryan Leonard

As such, Ryan Leonard started the season at right-back, but has been sidelined since the opening day with a hamstring problem.

The 34-year-old, who also missed periods of last season through injury misfortune, saw his latest prognosis revealed by Neil as "not going to be soon," in terms of a recovery period.

Alfie Doughty

Alfie Doughty is also yet to record his first minutes of the season, having picked up a hamstring issue of his own midway through August.

The left-wing-back made 28 appearances last season in all competitions, but isn't set to make his first of this campaign in the highly-anticipated derby.

Mathis Servais

Mathis Servais was one of 12 new additions to Millwall's squad, but the £3m summer signing is yet to make his competitive bow for the South London side.

He is another absent due to a hamstring issue, although Neil will be itching to see the 21-year-old in action after spending most of his summer funds on the Belgian.

Casper De Norre

Fellow Belgian midfielder, Casper De Norre, has missed the past three matches with a calf issue sustained in the 3-0 loss to Wrexham on September 2nd.

The 29-year-old was in and out of Neil's side last season too, with the Scot stating that he was likely to miss up to two weeks of action, which would take him up to this weekend in terms of recovery.

Romain Esse

Romain Esse returned to The Den on loan this summer, over a year after completing a then-club-record sale to another bitter rival in Crystal Palace.

The 21-year-old had made three appearances in all competitions before being absent from the midweek draw at the Riverside Stadium, after which Neil issued his latest frustrating player update.

"It’s his ankle. He’s hurt his ankle, and we need to get the extent of that injury. It’s going to be well after the international break, I believe," said the Millwall boss.

Josh Coburn

Josh Coburn was spotted leaving SE16 with crutches after sustaining a blow to the heel against Wrexham, and it has since been stated by Neil that he will be out of action “this side of the international break."

The striker, who netted nine goals in last season's promotion push, also secured a brace against Bristol City on the opening day, but will have to wait until at least October to be back involved and amongst the goals.

Mihailo Ivanovic

Mihailo Ivanovic is also yet to feature for Millwall this season after fracturing his metatarsal in July after returning from international duty with Serbia.

After it was initially hoped that the 21-year-old would return to action earlier this month, that has not proven to be the case, and there is no sign that he will be returning to the field until after the upcoming three-week hiatus from club action.

West Ham United

Joel Veltman

There are question marks over Joel Veltman's imminent availability for West Ham, after the summer recruit limped off against Wrexham in the first-half.

Having started at right-back for the third time this Championship season, the 28-cap international was absent from the cup loss to Fulham, with Nuno claiming ahead of that particular encounter: “He felt something. That’s the sad part of this game."

That said, the specifics of Veltman's lay-off are yet to be revealed.

Tomáš Souček

Having not featured competitively for West Ham this season, there are also doubts over whether Czech midfielder, Tomáš Souček, will return to action this side of the international break.
