The 2026 World Cup: Historic qualification night sees Africa’s line up for the global stage complete
The African contingent for the 2026 FIFA World Cup's complete after dramatic final night of CAF qualifying on Tuesday 14 October.
Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal and South Africa clinched the continent’s final 3 direct ticket joining Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Ghana and Cape Verde at the expanded tournament in Canada, Mexico and U.S.
The Elephants delivered commanding performance in Abidjan defeating Kenya 3-0 to finish top of Group F on 26 point (one ahead of Gabon).
Cote d’Ivoire finished their campaign unbeaten (8 win, 2 draw, 0 losse) with 22 goal scored and just 0 conceded underlining their credentials ahead of next year’s tournament.
For the 1st time since 2010, Bafana Bafana are heading to the World cup. Hugo Broos side defeated Rwanda 3-0 in Nelspruit leapfrogging Benin to top Group C with 18 point.
Goals from Thalente Mbatha, Oswin Appollis and Evidence Makgopa secured the historic qualification. with Nigeria’s 4-0 win over Benin including Victor Osimhen hat-trick proving decisive in the final standings.
In Group B, Senegal cruised to 4-0 victory over Mauritania to edge DR Congo by 1 point. Sadio Mane scored twice with Iliman Ndiaye & Habib Diallo adding the others as the Lions of Teranga sealed 3rd consecutive World cup appearance.
