The Terriers finished a disappointing 10th in the previous campaign, which led to the appointment of Lee Grant as manager.

The Yorkshire outfit will be targeting a return to the second division, but will also have to contend with a number of players with expiring contracts this year.

The club will have decisions to make that could even impact the League One side as we enter the final week of the summer window.

Here we look at the five Huddersfield players with a contract that expires in 2026…

Ben Wiles

Ben Wiles joined Huddersfield in the 2023 summer transfer window from Rotherham United, arriving on a three-year deal.

The 26-year-old has proven an important part of the side as the Terriers aim to fight for promotion back to the Championship.

However, his current contract is set to expire in 2026, which could lead to some uncertainty over his future.

Fortunately for the club, Huddersfield hold the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months, meaning the Yorkshire outfit still have some control over the player’s future.

Lee Nicholls

Lee Nicholls most recently signed a new contract with Huddersfield in June 2022 after the club narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

The goalkeeper has remained an integral part of the team in the years since, but his deal is now set to expire at the end of this season.

The League One side do hold the option to extend his contract by a further 12 months, which they will surely trigger in order to avoid losing him for nothing.

Mickel Miller

Mickel Miller signed a two-year contract when he joined from Plymouth Argyle in 2024, and has become a useful part of the first-team squad.

However, his future with the club is now uncertain as we approach the end of the summer transfer window.

With no option to extend his deal a further 12 months, the Terriers are now at risk of losing the 29-year-old for nothing in 2026, unless they can renew terms.

This could lead to an exit in the coming days, if significant interest in signing him arises.

Freddie Ladapo

Freddie Ladapo joined Huddersfield after he was released by Ipswich Town, arriving in September 2024 on a two-year deal.

The forward hasn’t been a consistent presence in the side, but has proven himself a valued member of the first team.

Huddersfield have no option to extend the 32-year-old’s contract, meaning he will be free to walk away from the Yorkshire outfit in 2026 unless an extension is agreed.

Neo Eccleston

Neo Eccleston has come through the ranks of the Huddersfield academy system, and has cemented his place in the first team squad.

However, game time has proven limited, which led to him going out on loan to Barrow in League Two last season.

Upon his return to the club, the defender agreed a one-year extension to keep him at Huddersfield until next summer.
