FLW has listed off the players currently set to leave Blues next summer unless circumstances change
Birmingham City's recent progress under the ownership of Knighthead Capital Management has been well-documented, with the club eventually looking to end a lengthy exile away from the Premier League.
Ever since his appointment as manager in June 2024, Chris Davies has received ample backing from American owner, Tom Wagner, in order to achieve a record-breaking League One season, as well as making an immediate mark on the Championship following their title-winning campaign that came with an EFL-high 111 points.
Plenty of eyes have been cast on developments at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park as a result, with Davies welcoming a raft of new additions to compliment what was already a mid-table second tier side in the eyes of many, prior to any transfer activity being conducted across the summer.
It must be said that Blues were rather ruthless in their approach to proceedings, with regulars such as Krystian Bielik, Taylor Gardner-Hickman and 16-goal man Alfie May all deemed surplus to requirements, whilst the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Marvin Ducksch, Demarai Gray and Phil Neumann were among the standout additions.
As a result of the club's immediate desire for success, it begs the question as to who will remain in B9 this time next year, and FLW has looked at those who certainly won't be unless anything changes.
The only permanently-contracted player to feature on this list is winger, Keshi Anderson.
Anderson was signed from Blackpool in June 2023, but has seen contract extensions exercised in each of the past two seasons that have kept him at St. Andrew's until at least the summer of 2026, albeit he is said to be earning just £5,000 per week according to ESTIMATED figures from Capology.
An often underrated performer last term, the 30-year-old netted seven goals and posted five assists last term, including a stunning strike at Huddersfield Town, but has, unsurprisingly, seen his minutes reduced following the summer homecoming of Gray.
Tommy Doyle provided Blues with promotion-winning experience upon his initial loan switch from West Midlands rivals, Wolves, having achieved success at Championship level on a temporary basis with Sheffield United in 2022/23.
So far, the ex-Manchester City man hasn't been able to fully make his mark despite the obvious qualities he possesses in and out of possession.
As such, it remains to be seen if a reported £10m option-to-buy clause for his services will be exercised in June.
James Beadle was the subject of mixed reviews for his performances in two loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday and during England Under-21's summer success under former Blues midfielder, Lee Carsley.
However, the Brighton and Hove Albion loanee still has plenty of potential left to fulfil, and that could certainly come in B9 after he was handed a starting berth in the league for the first time at Wrexham on October 3rd following an inconsistent run of form for the previously 'undroppable' Ryan Allsop
One man yet to endear himself to Bluenoses is another Brighton loanee in the form of Eiran Cashin.
The Irish youth international was signed for £9m on a five-and-a-half year contract at the AMEX Stadium in January after previously impressing for Derby County in League One and the Championship.
Yet, two months into his temporary switch to the Second City side, the 23-year-old has been in and out of the side, and came under immense scrutiny for an error which led to Jamal Lowe's initial equaliser in a dramatic 2-2 draw against cash-strapped Sheffield Wednesday in late September.
Cashin will hope to immediately address the aforementioned performance levels, or Blues may not entertain the thought of a permanent deal.
Lewis Koumas has endured a mixed start to life with Blues on loan from Liverpool as he looks to continue developing into a player that will eventually catch the eye of Arne Slot on a regular basis.
The 19-year-old is looking to better an underwhelming stint with Stoke City this term, and he has put in a handful of solid performances in the starting lineup and from the bench thus far, whilst Birmingham have also struggled to create bundles of attacking opportunities as a collective throughout a stuttering run of results which followed his arrival from Merseyside.
Meanwhile, Patrick Roberts has certainly made an impression following his Deadline Day loan move from newly-promoted Sunderland.
The 28-year-old previously worked with Davies at Celtic in the late 2010s, and his qualities very much remain an asset to the 40-year-old despite being much more of a senior figure.
After registering two goals and eight assists in the Black Cats' play-off winning campaign last term, the Kingston-Upon-Thames native has already been at the heart of many of Blues' attacking opportunities in a limited sample size of games, which included a pinpoint cross for Lyndon Dykes in the dying seconds of the home success over Swansea City on September 20th, as well as opening his individual account with a neat finish at Wrexham.
Understandably, there has already been a clamour from some to look at the possibility of a permanent deal, with Roberts' own contract at the Stadium of Light currently expiring next June.
