AI has decided which sets of fanbases are the most annoying on social media connected to League One sides
In League One this season, there is a strong mix of clubs with a variety of overall and recent histories, which makes for interesting debates when it comes to the world of social media.
Due to the current way of the world and modern football, it feels to many as if every decision within a match or club is analysed to the n'th degree on social media platforms, which creates a strong level of discourse and, at times, subsequent passion which feeds into stadiums and atmospheres.
The current third-tier season has already thrown up plenty of intriguing developments and storylines, yet there are still three quarters of the campaign still to play.
With that being said, Football League World asked renowned AI-based chatbot, ChatGPT, which seven clubs in the division have the most annoying social media fanbases active on social media and why, and here are the results.
A perhaps surprise inclusion to begin the list, AI believes that Wycombe Wanderers supporters can be among the most annoying within the third-tier landscape on social media.
AI cites its logic down to previous stereotypes of "anti-football" as the Chairboys rose from League Two and into the Championship under former boss, Gareth Ainsworth, with supporters known for defending their side's actions and play-style as it yielded consistent results over a prolonged period of time.
However, it remains to be seen if such defences resurface any time soon, with current head coach, Mike Dodds, looking to make the Buckinghamshire side a more progressive footballing side after last season's play-off semi-final defeat to Charlton Athletic.
The loyal support base of Plymouth Argyle is up next, although AI does seem to somewhat question it's own decision with this particular claim.
The Green Army are known for sticking by their team through the good and bad times, which they have seen plenty of in recent years and even the current campaign under Tom Cleverley.
AI believes that the passion showcased at Home Park - which is often evidenced through PieFace's matchday vlogs on YouTube - can sometimes boil over, although not on as many occasions in comparison to some of their divisional counterparts.
Next up is the first of two Yorkshire sides, with Barnsley in fifth place.
With the Tykes one of a cluster of sides to boast former Premier League pedigree, AI believes that supporters at Oakwell think the club is 'slept on' in comparison to neighbouring sides such as Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United, which in turn, gets the backs of supporters up in social media debate.
As a result, AI thinks this makes Reds supporters 'annoying' in the eyes of general EFL onlookers and supporters of rival clubs.
Huddersfield Town have been selected next by AI, who state that the club's two-year stint in the Premier League has raised expectation levels to a profound degree at the Accu Stadium, making sections of the Terriers' support somewhat entitled.
However, it was also quick to praise the loyalty shown by those in this part of West Yorkshire who have continued to stick by their club during a mixed period, which now sees them under the management of Lee Grant following a dismal first season back at League One level since 2012 last time out.
Bolton Wanderers are arguably the biggest club in League One at the moment in time, such is the history which can be felt at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.
However, AI believes that such pedigree can prove detrimental, especially during rough periods of a season where some supporters may have overstepped the mark in their criticism of those who don the white jerseys.
This hasn't exactly been documented as much during the early weeks of this season, although Steven Schumacher will be hoping to turn a flurry of draws into wins sooner rather than later to avoid such circumstances.
In second-place is supporters of Reading, with AI once again citing previous top-flight pedigree since the turn of the millennium as a reason for potential entitlement in comparison to many clubs in League One.
However, AI also believes that some supporters of other clubs could have found the usage of social media as 'melodramatic' when Royals supporters constantly voiced their disapproval at the controversial running of the club under former owner, Dai Yongge - which does seem rather harsh.
It believes that the wide range of protests methods showcased on social media were regularly mocked by rival supporters as a result.
However, the fanbase taking top spot in this particular AI-themed ranking is Peterborough United.
The main reason behind AI's selection is due to a previous hit out at those at the Weston Homes Stadium by Darren Ferguson during a previous stint in charge of Posh, during which he labelled supporters as being "disrespectful" to League One as a whole.
AI also believes that supporter frustrations are easily questioned by opposition or rival fanbases, with the chatbot thinking the entitlement among Posh supporters comes down to previous campaigns when the club were challenging for promotion to the Championship and had star names such as Ivan Toney on their books.
