FLW details the players who are set to miss the midweek clash at The Hawthorns.
Another important round of Championship fixtures get underway in midweek, with a clash at The Hawthorns having implications at both ends of the table.
On Wednesday evening, West Brom welcome Southampton to the Black Country, hoping to build on an impressive point on the road last weekend.
The Baggies secured a 1-1 draw against Sheffield United, with George Campbell going from zero to hero, firstly diverting the ball into his own net from a low Gustavo Hamer cross, before unleashing a rocket of an effort from 25 yards out to send the travelling fans into raptures.
It could just be what is needed to kickstart the last part of their season and get them pushing away from the wrong end of the table, but they are coming up against a firmly inform Saints team at the moment.
Tonda Eckert’s men are unbeaten in their last eight Championship games, winning six, while they claimed a huge scalp in the FA Cup last weekend by beating Premier League outfit Fulham 1-0 to reach the quarter-finals.
Naturally, there is so much positivity for Saints supporters at the moment, while another victory at The Hawthorns would help them firmly stake their claim in the play-off race too.
It’s a match that has a lot on the line for both teams, so it should prove to be an enthralling encounter as we enter the home stretch of this Championship season.
With this in mind, FLW details the players who are set to miss the clash in B71.

Starting with the hosts, they will be deeply disappointed to lose their best attacking outlet in Mikey Johnston.
The Republic of Ireland international was substituted in the 22nd minute of their defeat to Oxford United, with the club later confirming that he had suffered a stress fracture in his ankle.
The injury is likely to keep him out for the majority, if not the rest of the season, which is hugely damaging for Albion in their bid to secure survival in the second tier given he has recorded 11 goal contributions this season, including nine assists.
Hopefully, the Baggies can find an extra spark from somewhere, which could be in the form of academy graduate Ollie Bostock, who grabbed his first second tier goal of the season at the Kassam Stadium when replacing Johnston.

Next up is defender Charlie Taylor, who, while naturally a left-back, has been called upon for most of the season to play in central defence due to a number of injuries at the heart of the backline.
While he is fit and did feature off the bench for the second half at Sheffield United, this fixture is against his parent club, meaning he won't be eligible to play any part at The Hawthorns on Wednesday evening.
It certainly does leave Albion stretched at the back for options, with James Morrison needing to work out who to play alongside George Campbell.

As mentioned, the Baggies have their defensive injury woes at the moment, with Nat Phillips looking to make his way back into the first-team fold.
The ex-Derby County defender picked up a thigh injury in training prior to their clash with Oxford United in an untimely blow.
Speaking ahead of their meeting with Sheffield United last week, interim boss James Morrison was hopeful the 28-year-old would be back in training ahead of the Saints clash.
Speaking to BBC Radio WM, Morrison said: “Nat’s progressing well, hopefully he is with us next week for training.”
Whether the amount of training Phillips undertakes is enough to see him return to the squad remains to be seen, but it would be a surprise, with Albion needing Phillips at full fitness to aid their survival bid.

Chris Mepham has also been out of action since the start of February after suffering a hamstring issue in a goalless draw with Stoke City under Eric Ramsay.
Morrison also provided an update on his fitness prior to their game against Sheffield United, saying: “Meps is still working along and to be assessed, so that’s it so far.”
Again, it is unknown whether the Welsh international will be fit enough to make a return in midweek, but Albion have to be careful when dealing with such a delicate injury.

Moving on to long-term absentees, Karlan Grant is expected to be missing for a significant period of time and will miss the clash against Southampton.
The former Huddersfield Town man and £15m arrival suffered a hamstring injury in the early stages of their draw with Derby County at Pride Park, requiring surgery.
It leaves Grant out for three months, but there is hope he will return to play some part of the end of their campaign.

West Brom’s final absentee is attacking midfielder Tammer Bany, who has been ravaged by injury troubles since signing for the club in February 2025.
The Jordan international is currently working his way back from a four-month lay-off after suffering a ruptured thigh injury in training at the end of December.
Therefore, he will play no part against the Saints and could well be out for the remainder of the season, in what has been a tough time since his move from Randers - he's featured just five times in all competitions since his arrival in England.

Moving on to the visitors, and Brazilian left-back Welington remains a doubt with a muscle injury.
The 25-year-old sustained the issue at the end of their dramatic 4-3 victory over Leicester City, while Tonda Eckert confirmed the defender would be out for a couple of more weeks, prior to their meeting with Charlton Athletic.
While it is around the timeframe of when he should return, his absence from the squad in the FA Cup against Fulham last weekend is an indication that the issue hasn’t yet cleared, meaning he could well miss the clash against West Brom too.

Attacker Jay Robinson has been struggling with a quad issue, which has kept him out of action since the end of January.
Just over a week ago, Eckert said it “won’t be too long” until Robinson is back available for selection, but he did miss their FA Cup win at Craven Cottage last weekend.
It does mean he is a doubt going into Wednesday evening, with a sharp turnaround meaning he could well be saved for the following weekend at Coventry City.

Southampton’s final absentee is defender Mads Roerslev, with doubt cast over his involvement for the rest of the season.
The ex-Brentford man has undergone surgery on his Achilles, with Saints boss Eckert admitting he could miss the rest of the campaign.
It has certainly been a frustrating opening season for the 26-year-old since linking up on the South Coast, featuring just nine times in the second tier this term.
