How did we play?
We certainly played our part in an exhibition of Championship chaos with some very good moments and some very bad, and Watford fans would probably say the same about their performance. Three points were there for the taking but individual errors and our general lack of depth and fitness cost us. It’s a long time since I’ve left a game that frustrated, which is probably a sign that we are improving under Clement but it doesn’t make the league table look any nicer.
What was the best bit of the game?
The first 25 minutes which we bossed and took a deserved lead from an inevitable scorer at this ground. It was nearly unrecognisable stuff from just a couple of weeks ago.
What was the worst bit of the game?
Apart from the obvious moments – their first, their second, their third, Makama putting it wide – the queues to get in the ground were ridiculous. Arriving half an hour before kick-off it took over 20 minutes to get in and there were Norwich fans still coming through the turnstiles for the first ten minutes. A lot more organisation and common sense needed from Watford and their stewards.
What was the atmosphere like?
Very supportive throughout and the team were mostly clapped off for their effort. Vicarage Road was its usually muted self though the Watford fans woke up a bit towards the end. It’s always detrimental to the atmosphere when you have the vocal element of home fans and the away section diagonally opposite each other at each end, which is a big red flag for the proposed remodelling of Carrow Road.
Hero of the match
Pelle Mattsson was everywhere again.
Summary in Five Words
Better, but no less painful.
