How did we play?

We looked solid and structured with some nice passing moves for 20-odd minutes then it all started to unravel. Plenty of movement, very little meaning.

What was the best bit of the game?

Sarge nicking a goal out of nowhere in a most embarrassing fashion for Millwall fans, who were crowing somewhat after taking the lead only four minutes earlier. If you haven’t seen it, watch it; it’s quite funny.

What was the worst bit of the game?

If I was Papa Diallo I’d be wondering why, as one of the fastest players in the Championship, I didn’t get a chance to tear into the Millwall fullbacks when the game was still within our reach. Instead he had to watch Kellen Fisher and Ben Chrisene brought on as if we were protecting a lead rather than attempting to gain one. Carrow Road was up for taking the game to Millwall in the second half but the manager seemed to have other ideas.

What was the atmosphere like?

The humming wasp/mosquito-like noise the Millwall support is famous for is both tedious and intimidating so it was a little disconcerting that it was all I could hear on entering the stands but it was soon drowned out by increasingly loud music from whoever was operating the tannoy. If this was deliberate, it was a great move and should be considered for future games as it allowed the home fans to regain the initiative for kick off and beyond where things really got going. I’ve been to many away games where they do this and it’s really hard to get your support heard; why would we be so accommodating at home?

Overall, good noise, good drums, good support not reciprocated by the result or second half performance.
