Manchester United have not ruled out pursuing a late move for Myles Lewis-Skelly, despite a prospective deal appearing ‘complicated’.

That’s according to Laurie Whitwell in this morning’s Transfer Deal Sheet from The Athletic, who adds that the youngster’s stellar showing in the Community Shield final on Sunday has not changed the situation.

Myles Lewis-Skelly and United: What’s been said?

However, the player himself is keen on staying at the Emirates and fighting for his place amid growing competition following the arrival of £75 million signing Bruno Guimaraes.

United are said to be attracted to the 19-year-old’s versatility; while he came through the Arsenal academy as a natural left-back, he has shown that he’s more than capable of flourishing in the middle of the park, where he was deployed against Manchester City.

Given INEOS are on the market for two new acquisitions in those exact positions, they are enticed by the idea of bringing in a new face who can cover both.

Lewis Hall remains United’s first choice over Lewis-Skelly

In addition, Whitwell has corroborated what fans are already well aware of: that United have ‘strongly considered’ Lewis Hall.

The Newcastle United starlet is their first choice to bolster the left-hand side of defence, but the Magpies have made it clear he is off-limits this transfer window.

There is a possibility that United target an alternative this time around before going all-out for Hall in a year’s time, when a deal may be more feasible – especially if Newcastle oversee a lacklustre campaign as they did in 2025/2026.

It goes without saying that supporters are anticipating movement in the coming days, with the side preparing to kick off the new term away to Hull City this Saturday.
