Ismael Saibari has once again been the match-winner at the World Cup—further strengthening the case for his potential move to FC Bayern. However, the Moroccan refuses to comment on his future.
In Morocco’s 1-0 victory over Scotland, Saibari scored the decisive goal that secured the win for his team. He had already scored the only goal for the North Africans in their 1-1 draw against Brazil in their World Cup opener. Two goals in a tournament that continues to boost his international standing.
The PSV Eindhoven pro appeared correspondingly relieved after the game. “This is the best time of my career because, ever since I was little, I’ve dreamed of playing for my country at a World Cup. I’ve achieved that. Now I’ve scored two goals for my country. I’m just happy,” said Saibari. He left open whether he was the revelation of the tournament: “Whether I’m a revelation of this World Cup is for others to judge.”
When it came to his future, however, the Spain-born attacking player became noticeably more reserved. He deliberately sidestepped questions about a possible transfer after the Scotland game. “Thank you,” Saibari said simply, moving on to the next question.
His focus is clearly entirely on the World Cup, where Morocco aims to go one step further after reaching the semifinals four years ago: “We have our goals, and we’ll fight for them. We can go very far,” he emphasized confidently.
Saibari’s development is unlikely to come as a surprise to the German record champions. FC Bayern is said to have been monitoring the Moroccan for quite some time—and recently, there have been strong indications that their efforts have borne fruit. According to reports, Saibari has already undergone and passed his medical exam during the tournament.
According to consistent reports, a fixed transfer fee of 50 million euros is on the table; including bonus payments, the total could rise to 55 million euros. The transfer is reportedly set to be officially announced in July. Until then, Saibari is keeping a low profile.

Praise from Jürgen Klopp also shows that the 25-year-old has long since caught the attention of clubs beyond Bayern. Speaking on MagentaTV, the former successful coach expressly praised the Moroccan. “Saibari obviously has a lot of confidence right now. He scored a goal in his first game, and negotiations are underway. That’s a good thing, too. Big clubs are after him. It’s a good moment in his career,” Klopp said.
