The artwork celebrates Chelsea’s fourth consecutive Barclays Women’s Super League title in a year that the competition saw all kinds of records smashed.
The special mural contains an image of Chelsea’s Guro Reiten, a player who has enjoyed a fine season in the Barclays Women’s Super League. Reiten ended the campaign with 20 goal involvements in 21 Barclays Women’s Super League appearances (nine goals and 11 assists). Reiten scored one and created another as Chelsea sealed their fourth consecutive title with a 3-0 win at Reading on Saturday.
The mural, titled ‘The champions of a record-breaking season’ can be found at 235 Portobello Road and can be visited for the next week.
After viewing the commissioned artwork, Chelsea ace Reiten said “The mural is so cool, what an honour! It’s been a good year for me and I’m so proud to be a part of this club. I owe a lot to my teammates, everyone is willing to give everything for us to succeed and to end the year with another league title is just amazing. Moments like that make all the sacrifices and hard work worth it!”
Chelsea won the league title with a final points tally of 58, their highest total of the 22-game era.
