The Debate is Over: CAF Makes Final Decision on AFCON 2025 Venue
Patrice Motsepe president of the Confederation of African Football CAF has officially confirmed that Morocco will host the 2025 Africa cup of Nations as originally scheduled putting end to all rumors about potential venue changes.
Motsepe stated that the tournament will take place from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026 despite the recent internal circumstances in the country.
In press briefing, the CAF chief said:
"I was asked about the situation in Morocco & CAF’s position. My answer's simple .. Morocco is Plan A, B and C. There's no alternative host for the next AFCON"
The CAF president expressed total confidence in Morocco’s ability to deliver exceptional tournament adding that CAF will continue to work closely with the Moroccan government and the Royal Football Federation.
"We trust Morocco’s organizational capacity. Together we aim to stage the best Africa cup of Nations in history" Motsepe declared.
Motsepe also highlighted the remarkable progress achieved under his leadership revealing that CAF’s revenues have quadrupled over the past 5 year.
He added that the federation has allocated around 400 million dollar toward organizing competitions and youth football development across Africa, with plans to improve player salaries & national team funding in the near future.
Motsepe concluded:
"African football must continue to grow & evolve. Our mission's to build brighter, stronger future for the game across the continent"...
