Manchester City received a boost ahead of the January transfer window when Antoine Semenyo chose City as his preferred destination should he leave Bournemouth next month. David Ornstein reported for The Athletic that Semenyo had spurned interest from Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Chelsea to signal his intent to secure a move to City. As per David Ornstein’s report, Semenyo has a £65 million release clause in his contract that must be activated by January 10. So time is of the essence for City to seal a deal to sign Semenyo.
A new report has emerged that indicates that City is eager to sign Semenyo early next month. That has been on the cards for sometime and it seems that Manchester City could land their man early in next month’s transfer window.
Mark Brus has released a wide-ranging report via his exclusive Daily Briefing column on Manchester City’s move to sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. Brus reports that City are eager to complete the deal to sign Semenyo early in the January transfer window. Furthermore, Brus reports that City and Bournemouth have held initial talks over a deal that will see Semenyo move to the Etihad. Brus adds that City plans to trigger Antoine Semenyo’s release clause as soon as possible to sign a player who could add another dimension to Pep Guardiola’s side.
It is also reported by Mark Brus that Semenyo’s expected arrival at Manchester City won’t see any Omar Marmoush or Savinho put up for sale. Both players have roles to play in Pep Guardiola’s squad. Antoine Semenyo’s arrival may limit their minutes but neither player is likely to be sold as per Mark Brus’ report. Oscar Bobb could leave City if Semenyo arrives Brus adds.

It does seem to be a matter of time before Antoine Semenyo signs for Manchester City from Bournemouth. The sooner City sign the Ghana international the better. Semenyo will fill a noticeable hole in Pep Guardiola’s squad. Pep Guardiola’s squad does need a player who can provide goals from wide areas. Semenyo fits that bill perfectly. He is one of the best wingers in the Premier League and his best attributes do appear to suit this City side. Semenyo will add another dimension to Manchester City’s attacking play and his work out of possession will complement what this City side does without the ball.
It will not be a surprise to see Manchester City quickly sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth early in the January transfer window. In fact, it is to be expected. Mark Brus’ new report gives the impression that City will not waste any time in signing the Ghana international. That is the ideal move for City so they can get Semenyo in and on the pitch as soon as possible.
