Sandro Tonali has been a regular in the gossip columns in recent months after the revelation that the Newcastle midfielder had been subject of transfer interest in January.

Eddie Howe has insisted that Tonali remains happy at St James’ Park but the transfer talk has only increased. We’ve looked at how the bookmakers assess the Italian’s future.

Sandro Tonali – Club After The Summer Transfer Window Betting Odds

Liverpool – 11/2

Liverpool have not been as strongly linked as other names on this list but the Reds are likely to be in the market for a midfielder in the summer. Arne Slot’s side have been accused of lacking physicality this season, something the signing of Tonali would help solve.

With Alexis Mac Allister’s future also uncertain, Tonali could emerge as a Premier League proven replacement. However, tensions between the clubs are likely to be strained after last summer’s Alexander Isak saga.

Arsenal – 4/1

Arsenal’s interest in Tonali emerged in January after an approach late in the window. The Gunners had identified Tonali as an addition after losing Mikel Merino to injury.

Mikel Arteta’s side retain their interest but will require significant sales before launching a move of this magnitude. With a left-winger the priority, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal can finance two big-money deals.

Juventus – 4/1

Despite considerable interest from the Premier League, Tonali’s preference is reportedly a return to Serie A. Economic needs brought an end to his time at AC Milan and financial factors could also hinder his return to the division. Juventus appreciate the player but the Old Lady can not match the financial muscle of English clubs.

Manchester United – 10/2

Manchester United are the bookmakers’ frontrunners to land Tonali, if he leaves Newcastle. The Red Devils are plotting a midfield overhaul in the summer as Casemiro prepares to depart Old Trafford.

After the success of signing English-based talents in Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha last summer, the club are reportedly ready to focus on Premier League players again. Tonali would be a top addition to a team primed for a Champions League return.

Newcastle – 2/5

The current safe money is on Newcastle retaining the midfielder. Tonali is contracted at St James’ Park until 2029, leaving the Magpies in a strong negotiating position.

The challenge will be to convince Tonali that the project is still upwardly mobile, amid a potential absence of European football.
