Mohamed Salah – 300*

Salah will step onto a Premier League pitch as a Liverpool player for the 300th time today. The Egyptian has cemented a reputation as one of the Premier League’s greatest-ever footballers during his time at Anfield, which has coincided with Liverpool’s most successful period of the 21st century.

Salah smashed the then-Premier League record for goals in a single season during his debut campaign, on route to winning the PFA Player of the Year award. That accolade has been won in 2017/18, 2021/22 and 2024/25, making Salah the only three-time winner of English football’s biggest individual honour.

He’s also won four Golden Boots, a record shared with former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry.

In terms of team honours, Salah is a two-time Premier League title winner, while his eight trophies at Anfield also include the 2019 Champions League.

Sami Hyypia – 318

The Finnish man-mountain was a relative unknown when he arrived at Liverpool, though the £2.6m signing from Willem II proved to be one of the club’s best pieces of business in the Premier League era. Hyypia almost instantly strengthened a previous weakness in central defence, adding a commanding presence to a previously vulnerable backline.

Liverpool’s success under Gerard Houllier was built on a solid foundation, a period that included a UEFA Cup, FA Cup and League Cup treble in 2000/01. Hyypia captained the club for much of that season, though he eventually handed the armband to Steven Gerrard in 2003.

Despite that, he remained a crucial presence and was a key figure in the club’s Champions League success under Rafael Benitez in 2005. Hyypia spent a decade with Liverpool and is remembered as one of the Reds’ best-ever imports.

Jordan Henderson – 360

Jordan Henderson joined Liverpool from Sunderland in 2011 and overcame a challenging start to thrive. His real breakthrough came in 2013/14 under Brendan Rodgers, with his performances eventually leading to the captaincy after Steven Gerrard’s departure in 2015.

Under Jurgen Klopp, he became the leader of the Reds’ trophy-winning side. Henderson lifted the Champions League as captain in 2019 and was named FWA Footballer of the Year for his role in Liverpool’s drought-breaking Premier League triumph a year later. Often resembling an on-field manager, Henderson helped set the standards during Klopp’s golden reign.

Steven Gerrard – 504

For some, the best footballer to have worn a Liverpool shirt. The hometown hero progressed through the club’s ranks to become one of the Premier League’s best.

Gerrard turned down opportunities to leave Liverpool for sides better placed to challenge for trophies, instead opting to try and carry the side to silverware himself.

It was a feat achieved on several occasions, none more memorable than outstanding man-of-the-match performances in the 2005 Champions League final and 2006 FA Cup decider.

The only player to score in an FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Cup and Champions League final, Gerrard often rose to the occasion when it mattered most.

Jamie Carragher – 508

A modern rarity, Jamie Carragher retired from football as a one-club player. A boyhood Evertonian, Carragher instead made his name across the city to become a Liverpool legend.

Only the great Ian Callaghan (857) has ever made more appearances for Liverpool than Carragher (737), with more than 500 of those coming in the Premier League. The defender’s consistency put him among the Reds’ cult heroes.
