Serie A is perhaps more notorious than any other league for the ‘colourful’ characters that own their clubs, so of course we have covered them at length in our meanders through the annuls of Serie A. Enjoy…

A man whose motto was ‘spend more than you earn.’ Sergio Cragnotti was seen as a man from the future, with very few knowing where he got his money from. But as president of Lazio, he ploughed record amounts of cash towards the pursuit of silverware. And he forced Roma fans to boycott milk. Cragnotti’s reign began in jail and ended…in jail. He put together one of the most expensively assembled squads in history and then stole Sven-Goran Eriksson from under Blackburn’s noses and charged him with securing the title.

The Notorious Moggi

The life and times of former Perugia owner Luciano Gaucci. Gaucci shot to worldwide prominence after being reported to have sacked Perugia’s South Korean World Cup hero Ahn Jung-Hwan for knocking Italy out of the World Cup in 2002. He dined at the White House, hired a Gadaffi, gave a referee a racehorse and generally made Massimo Cellino look like Daniel Levy. Find out how this man played a role in breaking Serie A, giving the world Marco Materazzi and getting Sven the England job.

The life and times of Enrico Preziosi, one of Serie A’s most notorious owners. Preziosi was at the heart of Genoa’s biggest scandal in 2005 and is now trying to rewrite Genoa’s second biggest scandal some 80 years earlier. It’s a story involving match fixing and shootouts. And we don’t mean penalties. And there’s the matter of a manager passing away on live television.

We bring you the whole story. From Vasquez to Viagra. It’s the story that includes over a thousand sexual conquests and Jimbo’s favourite goal in Serie A history. The story of the man who found a kindred spirit in Kyle Lafferty. In an extremely competitive field, Zamparini is a record-breaker when it comes to owners dismissing managers in Italy. 45 sackings in 16 years will do that. And it was a golden age on the field, starring the likes of Cavani, Pastore, Dybala, Grosso, Toni. The list went on, as Palermo were regulars on the European scene.

The story of Parma, one of the most exciting teams of the 90s, with players like Gianfranco Zola, Tino Asprilla, Hernan Crespo, Tomas Brolin and (Dino) Baggio helping them to three European trophies in a decade (four if you count the Super Cup). But that all came crashing down with the club from Emilia-Romagna twice declaring bankruptcy, suffering relegation, and ultimately reforming in Serie D.
