Where and when is the game?

The first Sopercoppa semi-final takes place on Thursday, December 18.

The game kicks off at 22:00 local time (20:00 CET) and will take place at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, which also plays host to each other fixture.

It has a capacity of just over 26,000 which will be increased in order to be a venue for the 2034 World Cup and is the current home of Al-Nassr.

How did the teams qualify?

In 2023, the Supercoppa Italiana moved away from the traditional format pitting the Scudetto winner against the Coppa Italia winner, pivoting to a four-team format.

Napoli qualified by virtue of being the reigning Italian champions, while the Rossoneri are there due to being runners-up in the Coppa Italia.

One player to watch from each team

Scott McTominay (Napoli)

When he is on it, big things usually follow for Napoli and the Serie A Player of the Year will be vital to any hopes his side of adding more silverware before Santa Claus makes his deliveries.

It remains baffling why he was excluded from the nominations for BBC's Sports Personality of the Year in the UK.

Throughout the month of November, the Diavolo goalkeeper was the undisputed main man behind their excellent form - culminating in his sensational MVP performance in the derby against Inter.

He needs to be at his best if Allegri is to pick up the first trophy of his second spell in charge at San Siro.

Who are the coaches?

Antonio Conte (Napoli)

To say the former Italy coach's 18 months in Naples have been turbulent would be an understatement, often flitting between success and spicy comments as he looks to improve his squad.

But his influence has been undeniable - becoming just the fourth man ever to lead the Partenopei to the title.

Massimiliano Allegri (Milan)

Another experienced tactician who knows all about delivering glory in the peninsula, Allegri is back for a second stint at San Siro by way of two separate spells with Juventus.

Without any European football to distract them, things have started very well and Milan currently sit one point off the Serie A summit - although they have already been eliminated from the Coppa Italia.

Predicted line-ups

Napoli (3-4-3): Milinkovic-Savić; Beukema, Rrahmani, Buongiorno; Di Lorenzo, Lobotka, McTominay, Gutiérrez; Neres, Højlund, Lang.

Milan (3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Pavlović; Saelemaekers, Ricci, Modrić, Rabiot, Bartesaghi; Pulisic, Nkunku.
