Sunderland supporters are plotting their routes already, at home and abroad, after clinching a place in next season’s Europa League.

A seventh-place Premier League finish last season means Regis Le Bris’ side will enter UEFA’s secondary competition for only the second time in the club’s history, alongside the likes of Juventus, AC Milan and Marseille in the league phase.

There will be long domestic hauls too. The shortest top-flight trip, Newcastle United at St James’ Park, is a 31.2-mile round journey from Sunderland.

Leeds United, Elland Road, clocks a 194.6-mile return.

Hull City’s MKM Stadium requires a 270.8-mile round trip.

Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium is a 273.6-mile round trip.
