As much comes after the extent of the 21-year-old’s latest injury was confirmed.

As per Mundo Deportivo, Pedri has suffered ‘a serious internal lateral sprain of the left knee’.

The Spaniard, as a result, is understood to be facing up to a spell of at least five more weeks on the sidelines, unlikely to return to competitive action until the start of September.

And, should as much prove to be the case, Barcelona will be in line for considerable compensation.

According to MD:

‘As of August 2, FIFA will have to compensate FC Barcelona for around 35 days for the period that it will be without the Spanish international.’

Taking into account on agreed upon ‘daily compensation of up to 20,548 euros per day’, the Blaugrana are therefore in line for a minimum payout expected to be in excess of €700,000 from FIFA.
