Carlo Ancelotti has poured praise on Casemiro, who’s quickly become one of his most trusted lieutenants since taking the Brazil job.
At club level, Casemiro made 75 appearances under Ancelotti for Real Madrid and won two of his five Champions League titles.
Now, he’s had the chance to reunite with his former coach when plying his trade on international duty, having added another six caps to his name since the Italian took the reins in May.

In that time, Casemiro has captained the team twice already, and played an integral role in Brazil overturning Senegal over the weekend when he scored the second goal of the 2-0 win.
Ancelotti singled out the veteran for his efforts post-match, telling reporters: “He is the most important player for the team’s balance. He is very tactically intelligent. He shows great leadership. He is an important player for us.”
It’s safe to say Ruben Amorim will echo the sentiment, as he’s learned just how dependable Casemiro can be throughout his 12-month tenure thus far.

After initially giving the 33-year-old a reduced role upon his arrival at Old Trafford, Casemiro proceeded to essentially force his way into Amorim’s plans by impressing in the brief cameos he was granted.
He has started nine of Manchester United’s 11 Premier League matches played his campaign, missing out against Brentford through suspension and featuring off the bench in the Manchester derby.
The Sao Paulo graduate has returned a hugely impressive three assists and one goal, often finding himself in the right place at the right time to play creator amidst his dominant defensive efforts.
In fact, reports have even suggested that Amorim is keen on seeing Casemiro’s form rewarded with a new deal; as things stand, he will leave United as a free agent in 2026 unless his one-year option is activated or he agrees new terms entirely.
