Naturally, there are many different resources online for learning how players in football are valued. Market value estimates are a huge and burgeoning business online, with some significantly credible sources offering their own takes. Two of the most credible are CIES and, even more credibly, Transfermarkt. These two are widely used as probably the two most accurate estimates of modern transfer value. Transfermarkt is especially prominent in its topical and current nature. And with that in mind, it has been learned recently who the most valuable Premiership player is, according to the forensic outlet.

Naturally, Ibrox Noise covered recently CIES and their take on things. They estimated that Celtic’s Nygren and Kasper Høgh were the most valuable two players in the Scottish Premiership. However, Transfermarkt had a very different angle and offers a very different number one, especially given their number one is much lower on the CIES list.

Emmanuel Fernandez is currently valued as the Scottish Premiership’s most valuable player at around 16M Euros. The Nigerian international once again got his call up to his inherited nation, but hasn’t played in any of the AFCON matches to date. Indeed, he’s more likely to be a bit part player for the African giants. Nigeria happen to be historically one of the strongest continental sides in the whole of the African subcontinent.

He, of course, got his choice to play for Nigeria and has had a handful of caps thus far. But it’s that value that all came as a result of some goals last season, which has skyrocketed to around the £18 million mark.

Of course Rangers fans, and we suppose that lot from the other side of the city as well, would well expect the club’s top assets to be £25 million plus. In reality, that’s not really how it works. Sometimes players will go for that kind of money, but to this date the Scottish transfer sales record remains at £25 million. Celtic have sold three or four players at that sum, but they cannot get any more than that. Rangers’ record remains £22 million for Calvin Bassey.

The fact that Rangers have the most valuable Premiership player is a testament to the improvement in the trading mode. This is bringing in young gems and turning them into valuable club assets. These can be sold at a gigantic profit in the future.

The fact is, though, Transfermarkt has a lot of clout in the industry. Its numbers are very highly respected, and it’s usually the main source of data regarding transfers and their values.
