July 2025 marked the end of FC Bayern’s international journey at the FIFA Club World Cup and also brought some personnel changes.
The Munich side faced Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals and after a goalless first half, FCB conceded two late goals through Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé to crash out of the competition with a 2-0 defeat.
The game was overshadowed by a serious injury: Jamal Musiala had to be substituted before the break after a collision with Gianluigi Donnarumma. The diagnosis: ankle dislocation and fracture of the fibula. A bitter setback for the attacking star, who would be out for almost six months in total.

Away from the pitch, there were numerous transfer moves in July. On 30 July, FC Bayern announced the signing of Luis Díaz. The Colombian winger came from Liverpool FC and signed a contract until 2029. Díaz was to wear the number 14 from now on. The transfer caused controversy, mainly due to the Colombian’s age and the previously failed transfers of dream players such as Florian Wirtz or Nico Williams. Nevertheless, Díaz subsequently proved to be a permanent fixture and impressed with consistent performances.
At the same time, several players left the club. Mathys Tel left for around €35 million, while Daniel Peretz went on loan to Hamburger SV on 21 July. Maurice Krattenmacher was also loaned out, joining Hertha BSC. In addition, Adam Aznou, Gabriel Vidović, Jonah Kusi-Asare, Leroy Sané and Eric Dier all left the club.
July thus ended for FC Bayern with an elimination from the new format of the Club World Cup, a serious injury and a clearly visible shake-up in the Munich squad.
