‘The next big thing’ – Man Utd believe they have internal replacement for JJ Gabriel | OneFootball

Manchester United believe they have a genuine star in the making, as Noah Ajayi is being groomed for a prominent role at the club.

The club’s youth ranks might be brimming with top prospects, but MUFC are bound to lose the services of the most coveted 15-year-old in the world.

It was revealed last month that Gabriel is actively seeking to terminate his scholarship contract and leave the United immediately.

Gabriel’s desire to leave Carrington sent shockwaves through the club’s fanbase, as the teenager had carried the supporters’ hopes for a brighter future.

While the young forward remains a MUFC player for now, he is expected to leave sooner or later amid the lack of a long-term professional contract. Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain are said to be his main suitors.

Gabriel’s exit will undoubtedly leave behind a major hole at Carrington, as well as a disgruntled fanbase.

Nevertheless, Man Utd feel they have another top gem at their disposal in the shape of Ajayi, explains Manchester Evening News journalist Steven Railston.

Unlike the rebellious Gabriel, Ajayi has already tied the knot with Man Utd, having recently signed his first professional contract.

As the source explains, Ajayi is considered the ‘next big thing’ at United, as club officials feel he has the tools to become a top-notch forward.

Standing at 6’2”, the German-Nigerian is blessed with a strong physique, in addition to an electric pace and exquisite dribbling. He also enjoys playing as an inverted left-winger, thus earning comparisons to Marcus Rashford.

The Hamburg native was promoted to Man Utd’s under-18 side in 2025, and he formed an excellent attacking partnership with Gabriel.

This season, Ajayi has been making appearances for the club’s U21 team as well, and if he continues to deliver the goods, his senior debut could be a matter of when rather than if.
