The next Olise? Bayern set their sights on Premier League star

FC Bayern pulled off a real transfer coup in the summer of 2024 with Michael Olise. The Frenchman has developed into a key player in a very short space of time and is now impressing at an absolutely world-class level. So it’s no wonder that Munich are once again looking around the English market – and have apparently set their sights on the next exciting attacking player

As the British Times reports, the German record champions are looking closely at Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers. The 23-year-old has developed into one of the most eye-catching attacking players in the Premier League over the past year and a half and is now also a member of the England national team

Bayern once again focuses on the Premier League market

It is no coincidence that Bayern are increasingly looking to England. Following the successful transfers of Michael Olise and Luis Díaz, the team at Säbener Straße seem to have taken a liking to signing players from the Premier League. Olise’s breakthrough in particular has clearly made an impression internally and shown the potential that can be found there

Rogers fits the profile they are looking for perfectly. The attacking player is flexible, can play both on the wings and in the center and impresses above all with his dynamism, creativity and finishing power. At Aston Villa, he is often deployed in attacking midfield or on the left flank – precisely the position Bayern are currently looking to strengthen

High transfer fee and strong competition

However, a potential transfer is likely to be anything but easy. Unlike Olise in the summer of 2024, who could be signed for around €50 million, Rogers is in much higher spheres. His market value is currently around €80 million, and according to the Times, Aston Villa are only willing to talk for around €90 million

In addition, there is strong competition: Arsenal and Manchester City, two of the Premier League’s top clubs, are also interested in the England international. Aston Villa also have the upper hand thanks to a long-term contract until 2031 – Rogers does not have an exit clause

For FC Bayern, this means that if they were to seriously pursue the transfer, a financially demanding poker game would be unavoidable. At the same time, the scenario only partially fits in with the recently communicated strategy of avoiding excessive mega-transfers

Nevertheless, the interest shows that Munich are still on the lookout for top-class attacking solutions – and are also daring to approach the difficult English market. However, it remains to be seen whether Morgan Rogers will actually be the next big coup. One thing is clear: the path to this would be much more complicated than the transfer of Olise.
