The next Olise? Premier League star lands on Bayern’s radar

The transfer window opens on 1 January – and things could get more turbulent than expected at FC Bayern. In the past few weeks, the German record champions have actually taken the clear line that they do not want to make any major transfers in the winter. Those responsible around Max Eberl and Christoph Freund wanted to bring calm to the squad, stability to the system and focus on the speedy return of injured key players. But suddenly a new rumour from England has brought a breath of fresh air

According to Turkish transfer expert Ekrem Konur, an attacking player from the Premier League has sparked FCB’s interest: Antoine Semenyo from AFC Bournemouth. The 25-year-old Ghana international is a dynamic, robust winger and has everything that modern wingers need at the top level – pace, assertiveness, finishing power and variability in the final third

Semenyo already played himself into the focus of numerous international clubs in the pre-season. With eleven goals and six assists for Bournemouth, the right winger recommended himself for bigger tasks. This season, he is seamlessly building on these performances and already has six goals and three assists. The numbers show: Semenyo is not a one-hit wonder, but a player who is constantly developing at a high level

His profile also makes him interesting for top clubs. Although his main position is the right wing, he can be deployed in almost all attacking roles – an advantage that would be particularly valuable in Vincent Kompany’s flexible system. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is €55 million. His contract with Bournemouth runs long-term until 2030. Explosive: From 1 January, a release clause of around €74 million is set to take effect – a sum that makes him a realistic but expensive option

The fact that FC Bayern are monitoring a player like Semenyo is not surprising given the current state of the squad, but it does not fit in with their original plans. With the imminent return of Jamal Musiala and the strong line-up on the attacking flanks – including Michael Olise, Luis Díaz and Serge Gnabry – Munich have little acute need for action

However, it is also clear that the German record champions appear to have intensified their scouting on the island following the Olise transfer coup. There are certain parallels between Semenyo and Olise. Olise also moved from Crystal Palace to Munich in the summer of 2024 via a release clause – also from a „smaller club“ in the EPL

However, a potential transfer of the Ghanaian would be anything but a foregone conclusion, as the competition reads like a list of contenders for a Champions League final. According to Konur, almost all of the Premier League’s top teams are reportedly keeping an eye on the attacking star: Manchester City, Liverpool FC, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea FC and Arsenal FC. Then there is Paris Saint-Germain, who are also prepared to dig deep into their pockets for reinforcements on the wing.
