Young midfielder Maxi Oyedele has today confirmed his imminent exit from Manchester United after 12 years of association with the club.

The 19-year-old is poised to join Legia Warsaw on a permanent deal, which includes a sell-on clause for the Red Devils to benefit from any potential sale in the future.

While still awaiting his maiden senior call-up, Salford-born Oyedele represents Poland at international level and has done so at U18, U19 and U21 levels. As such, his impending transfer will see him play competitive football in his mother’s homeland.

He leaves United having never made a first-team appearance but did gain a sliver of experience when on loan with Altrincham and Forest Green Rovers. However, the latter of the two saw him feature in only four matches.

Oyedele’s new venture provides the chance for him to make a name for himself and really nail down a prominent role in a senior squad.

A heartfelt goodbye from Oyedele

Taking to Instagram this afternoon, the teenager penned a moving message to bid farewell to United.

“My time at Manchester United has finally come to an end,” he began. “I want to say thank you to the only club I’ve ever known. [I’m] Honoured to say I’ve been at the club for 12 years and had some unbelievable experiences with some amazing teammates.

“Thank you to all the coaches, staff and the fans. I will never forget the memories I have made at this club.

“I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best as I leave ready to start the next chapter of my career. This club will always be my home, and once again, thank you. Once a Red, always a Red.”
