Darren Moore has revealed that he made a tactical decision to bring off central defender Dominic Iorfa during Saturday’s 2-1 victory over AFC Wimbledon, in conversation with Sheffield-based outlet, The Star.
The Owls, who won the clash courtesy of a 92nd minute Lee Gregory goal, now sit fifth in League One, holding a three-point advantage over Oxford United in seventh.
Iorfa has spent much of this season sidelined with a hip injury, with the 26-year-old only just getting back to full fitness it would appear.
Speaking to The Star about the decision to hook the defender off after 67 minutes on Saturday, Moore said: “Dominic did fine… The only reason I took him off was because I wanted to get more attackers on the pitch.

“We took a defender off to put another attacker on. He got a good 60 minutes under his belt and he played his part in us getting the three points.”
The verdict
Injuries within the backline and general defensive unavailability has certainly hit the Owls hard this season.
Subsequently, Wednesday fans will be relieved to know that the decision to bring Iorfa off at the weekend was not forced by an injury, instead, a tactical choice.
Iorfa is expected to play a big part in what remains of this third-tier season, with the Owls looking to secure an immediate return to the Championship.
The defender’s resilience, intelligence and physicality adds a lot of confidence to the club’s backline and makes him an option that Moore is likely to continue to trust.
