With the play-offs complete, we now know who'll be in League One next season, and this is what the bookies are saying is going to happen in 2026-27.

With the play-offs now completed, the teams that will be competing in League One next season are now confirmed, so here's where the money is going on who'll go up from the third tier in 2026-27 as 2025-26 comes to an end.

With Notts County having comfortably beaten Salford City on Bank Holiday Monday, the list of teams who'll be playing in League One next season is now complete. Notts join Bromley, MK Dons and Cambridge United in getting promoted from League Two, while Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester City and Oxford United join them from the Championship, with Lincoln City, Cardiff City and Bolton Wanderers having been promoted.

Now that the season is completed, the betting markets have opened for the new season, and these offer a fascinating insight into early thoughts of who'll be successful in the division next season. Odds compilers set the odds based on various factors before moving those odds according to market activity, such as heavy betting support or a lack of betting support. This means that at this early stage it's likely that the odds will likely be heavily weighted by their own analysts' assessments of the state of play at the clubs concerned.

There are some big hitters in this division next season, but it's also the case that, with the transfer window not opening until the 15th June, squads will look very different to how they do now. Sporting Life have already published a league table of where the bookmakers believe the teams will be by May 2027, so here's that rundown in full.

24 ? ? Bromley

Bromley may have finished 2025-26 as the champions of League Two, but they're predicted to finish bottom of the table next season. The Ravens will only be playing their third season of EFL football following their 2024 promotion from the National League, and ten years ago this year they'd just completed their first season at that level of the game.

23 ? ? Wimbledon

As recently as the 11th March, Wimbledon were in the top half of the League One table, with a 4-1 win against Blackpool having lifted them to 11th place in the table. But an atrocious run of form followed. The Wombles lost nine of their last eleven games of the season, with a 1-0 win at Wigan Athletic in their penultimate match proving enough to keep them up. They'd been in the play-off places in the autumn, so this could swing either way, but the team's collapse in form throughout the second half of last season doesn't bode well for 2026-27.

22 ? ? Burton Albion

Burton Albion were in the League One relegation places at the start of February, but a decent run-in was enough to keep them up last season, with them eventually finishing in 17th place in the table. But Burton's home attendances were the lowest in the division last season, and this squeezes what they're able to spend on players, and the early prediction is that next season could mark the end of an eight-year stay in League One.

21 ? ? Cambridge United

Cambridge United were also promoted from League Two at the end of last season, after having finished third in the table. This was an immediate bounce back after having finished 23rd in League One at the end of 2024-25, and they're not predicted to do much better this time around. They crawled over the line at the end of the season, winning just two of their last eight League matches of the season.

20 ? ? Leyton Orient

Leyton Orient managed to avoid history repeating itself, last season. At the end of 2013-14, they were beaten on penalty kicks by Rotherham United in the League One play-off final. The following season, though, their form collapsed, and they finished second from bottom in the division. At the end of 2024-25, they were back in the League One play-off final again, where they were beaten 1-0 by Charlton Athletic, but on this occasion they managed to avoid the drop the following season, with a 2-2 draw against Burton on the final weekend securing their status. This early prediction doesn't foresee any improvement for them, this time around.

19 ? ? Peterborough United

The last couple of seasons have been difficult for Posh, with two successive 18th-place finishes following a couple of seasons when they challenged for a place in the Championship. The big concern at London Road at the end of 2025-26 will have been another big drop-off in form. Peterborough United failed to win any of their final nine games of the season, and that run needs to be arrested if they're to improve on the last two seasons.

18 ? ? Stevenage

Stevenage were one of the surprise packages in League One last season, finishing the season in 6th place in the table before losing their play-off semi-final to Stockport County. The bookmakers do not currently expect Boro to repeat this feat, even though - having finished 9th in 2023-24 - this was the second time in the three years since their promotion from League Two that they've finished in the top half of the division.

17 ? ? Mansfield Town

Mansfield Town ended last season on a superb run of form, but the Stags are not expected to match last season's 10th place finish, their highest final league position since 1987. They only lost one of their last 15 League games of the 2025-26 season, and even finished up with a thrilling 5-4 win against promoted Cardiff City on the final weekend, but they're not expected to repeat that sort of finish again.

16 ? ? Notts County

Notts were promoted via the play-offs at the end of last season with a 3-0 win against Salford City, marking a return to League One for the club for the first time since 2014-15 after finishing 5th in League Two. But they're not expected to fall straight back there. With an average home attendance of 11,520, they were by far the best-supported team in League Two last season - they'd also have been the seventh-best supported team in League One - and this could give them the sort of financial buffer to be able to strengthen for their return to the third tier.

15 ? ? Doncaster Rovers

2025-26 was a season of two halves for Doncaster Rovers, who were still in the relegation places in League One at the end of January before recovering to finish 14th at the end of their first season back after winning the League Two title at the end of 2024-25. The early prediction is for them to finish slightly lower this time around, though still comfortably clear of relegation trouble.
