The Premier League deals to watch out for on Transfer Deadline Day

Premier League clubs are navigating unusual waters as transfer deadline day falls in June.

This is the first of two deadlines this summer, with Fifa opening up the window for a 10-day period ahead of the Club World Cup to allow participating teams register new players.

The mini window closes at 7pm today (Tuesday) and reopens on Monday, June 16 until  September 1. There will be an in-tournament registration period between June 27 and July 3 for the knockout stages.

Clubs can still announce deals while the transfer window is shut, but cannot register them until it re-opens.

That has paved the way for a flurry of activity early in the summer as clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester City work on bringing in fresh faces before the competition gets underway. Here are some of the deals that Premier League sides are working to get over the line.

The Premier League deals to watch on Transfer Deadline Day

Jamie Gittens to Chelsea

Chelsea may have given up on AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, but they are hoping to get at least one deal done today.

The south west London outfit are said to be in talks with Borussia Dortmund over a potential deal for Jamie Gittens. They have already seen one bid rejected.

The winger, who is reportedly valued at around £42m (€50m), reportedly wants a move to Stamford Bridge ahead of next season. Dortmund are also competing in the Club World Cup, so they may not be in a rush to sell the youngster, but both clubs could return to the negotiating table later if a deal can’t be agreed before the deadline.

Benjamin Sesko to Arsenal

Arsenal‘s long standing interesting in Benjamin Sesko could come to a head on Tuesday. Although we don’t expect the RB Leipzig striker to sign for the Gunners today, Al-Hilal are reportedly in for him after Victor Osimhen rejected their approach.

The Saudi Pro League outfit are looking to sign Sesko in time for the Club World Cup, meaning it has to be done by the 7pm deadline. If they somehow pulled it off it would be a major blow to Mikel Arteta’s transfer plans and force him to look at alternative options.

Rayan Cherki to Man City

This is not the only deal that Manchester City are looking to get finalised today, but it’s certainly the most exciting. Rayan Cherki has all the makings of a potential star, if his talents can translate to the Premier League.

Fabrizio Romano reports that City and Lyon have “signed all documents” on a £35.5m (€46m) deal. There will be a £30m fixed fee and £5.5m in add-ons, and a 15 percent sell-on clause has been included.

Tijjani Reijnders is expected to sign from Milan, while City are also said to be working on a deal to bring in backup goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea in time for the Club World Cup.

Bryan Mbeumo to Man Utd

Manchester United are hoping to get their business done quickly so that Ruben Amorim has a full squad to work with when they reconvene for pre-season. That’s why Matheus Cunha was wrapped up before the transfer window even opened, and they’re looking to get Bryan Mbeumo in the door as soon as possible.

The France-born Cameroon international wants to move to Old Trafford, now it’s just up to Brentford and the Red Devils to hash out the details. One bid has already been rejected, will United come in with another before today’s deadline?

Adrien Truffert to Bournemouth

This won’t be the most blockbusting move of the window, but its implications are interesting, for Liverpool fans anyway.

Bournemouth have agreed a deal to sign Adrien Truffert from Rennes, according to Le Parisien, with a medical set to follow. Once that is confirmed it gives the green for Milos Kerkez to join the Reds.

The Hungary international has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield this summer, and it will almost certainly happen once this domino falls. Fabrizio Romano reports that the “final round of talks” will take place very soon.
