Mohamed Salah’s new contract has brought widespread relief to Liverpool, with the Egyptian putting pen to paper on a new deal at Anfield.
Salah’s signature means the 32-year-old will stay at Liverpool until at least 2027, ensuring one of the Premier League’s finest talents remains with the Reds.
Salah is in the midst of a brilliant individual season and leads the Premier League for both goals and assists. He has scored 27 goals and created 17 more in the league this season and needs just one more goal contribution to break the single-season record for a 38-game campaign.
Salah is also rapidly climbing the all-time list for Premier League goal involvements. Just four players have ever recorded more goals and assists than Salah in the division and his new two-year deal means he could very well top that list in the coming seasons. Liverpool’s free-scoring forward is also the only active player in the top 10 that is still playing in the Premier League.
Alan Shearer leads the way with 324 goal contributions, with the former Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United striker the Premier League’s record scorer with 260 goals. Shearer also added 64 assists for his teammates during an illustrious Premier League career.
Wayne Rooney is the only other player to have reached 300 goals and assists in the Premier League. Rooney is also the only footballer to have scored 200+ goals and recorded 100+ assists in the division.
