Erling Haaland has inched forward in the list of Premier League players with the most hat-tricks in the competition’s history.

The Norwegian behemoth fired three goals past West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday, the eighth top-flight treble of his Manchester City career.

The 24-year-old has jumped ahead of former Everton and Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, moving level with Michael Owen, Harry Kane and Thierry Henry.

Robbie Fowler is third with nine and Alan Shearer sits second on 11, but he needs another five to match Sergio Aguero’s record tally of 12. At the rate he’s currently going, he’ll get there by the end of next season.

Haaland has now scored three goals in a single match against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Man United, Wolves (twice, the second time he scored four times), Fulham and now Ipswich.

Remarkably, each one of these hat-tricks were all scored in front of his home crowd in Eastlands.

On Haaland’s latest hat-trick, Guardiola said: “No words for him. All we can do is make him play better and better and give him as many balls as possible to the box. It’s what we have to do. We are there and we added quality.

“This is a team. When you have to run backward, no one asks who has to do it. Everyone has to. When we see Erling doing that, it is fantastic.
