Pedri Gonzalez once again commanded the midfield for FC Barcelona in the Spanish Supercopa final against Real Madrid, a thrilling 3-2 victory that secured the first trophy of the 2025-26 season for La Blaugrana.

The Canary Islander played a pivotal role in the win, assisting Robert Lewandowski’s second goal and helping his team navigate one of the most intense Clasicos of the season.

Speaking to the media after the match, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, Pedri commented on how both teams were driven to win:

“We knew they would come with intensity, but so would we after the last match against them.”

Pedri also highlighted how the opening goal opened the floodgates for more goals:

“From the moment the scoring opened, things started happening. They are very good in transitions. Vinicius scores a great goal, and shortly after comes our goal. It seemed like the referee was about to blow the whistle, and then their goal arrives. In the second half, we knew it would be a tough match, and we went all out.”

Ronald Araujo returned to the pitch for the first time after his leave of absence for mental issues, and the Canarian revealed how he played a part in this win behind the scenes as well:

“Ronald, both on and off the pitch, contributes a lot to us. The speech he gave before going out on the field inspired us, and we went out to fight.”

He further acknowledged his own ongoing development, saying, “There will always be a better version of Pedri to come.”

The victory not only reinforced Pedri’s growing importance within the Barcelona squad but also marked another milestone in his career as he continues to leave a lasting mark on the club’s history.

With contributions from key players like Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha, and the inspirational leadership of Araujo, Barcelona celebrates a well-earned triumph to start the year on a high note.
