Manchester City and Napoli have confirmed their starting lineups ahead of tonight’s UEFA Champions League league phase fixture at the Etihad. Both teams will be desperate to begin their Champions League campaigns with a good result. The game promises to be a tight affair, given the quality of the two lineups. Kevin De Bruyne returns to the Etihad for the first time since departing the club. His return will be a special moment, and he will likely receive the hero’s welcome he deserves.
Pep Guardiola’s side enters the match with several players unavailable due to injury. Mateo Kovacic, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Omar Marmoush are all ruled out of tonight’s match. In the case of Mateo Kovacic, Pep Guardiola told the media yesterday that Kovacic is edging closer to returning. Kovacic is yet to play this season after having surgery on a troublesome Achilles injury at the end of last season. John Stones trained yesterday and could be a part of the Manchester City squad for today’s match.
