Football League World counts down the best 25 players in League One this season, per WhoScored ratings
We are in the twilight of the 2025/26 League One campaign, with the final day set to commence on Saturday.
It's been a hectic campaign full of surprises, from Lincoln City's centenary season to Plymouth Argyle's disastrous start, which then translated to a push for the final play-off spot on the final day.
And even down at the bottom, last season's play-off finalists, Leyton Orient, may find themselves relegated on the final day, despite having the league's top scorer and dual Player and Young Player of the Season leading their line in Dom Ballard.
Throughout the campaign, numerous players have stood out and, according to WhoScored's ratings average, here are the 25 who have stood out the most.

It's been a campaign filled with ups and downs for Wigan Athletic, as fears over relegation under Ryan Lowe were transformed in February under returning boss Gary Caldwell, who has the Tics operating as a top-four side since his first game back in the dugout.
One player who has starred throughout the season, no matter the manager, is Fraser Murray, enjoying a successful debut campaign in England after arriving from Kilmarnock in his native Scotland in the summer.
The 26-year-old has been almost ever-present for Wigan, missing just one game back in August, and has five goals and eight assists for the season, with an average WhoScored rating of 7.06.

Lincoln have wowed third-tier fans all season. They're currently on a 28-game unbeaten run, which has seen them cross the 100-point mark; they've scored the most in the division and have conceded the fewest.
There'll be a lot of Imps representation on the list, but first up is Tom Hamer, who has contributed to the defensive record but has chipped in going forward, too, with seven goal contributions to his name.
There will be quite a few people in the Lincoln squad who will be champing at the bit to get involved in Championship football for the first time in their careers, and the 7.06-rated centre back will be one of those.

One person who already knows what it's like to play in the second tier at the LNER Stadium, however, is Adam Reach, who will be adding to his 375 Championship appearances next year after a couple of years in League One.
A lot has been said about the experience that Michael Skubala has weighed on this season in his defensive line, and they, more than anyone else, have led to the Imps being so difficult to break down, despite having the lowest average possession in the third tier.
At an average rating of 7.07, Reach isn't the highest-rated defender from Lincoln in the division, but he's still one of the best in the league outside his club.

Cardiff City under Brian Barry-Murphy have been an exciting side to watch, with a plethora of young, talented academy graduates taking centre stage in a promotion-winning side.
Rubin Collwill was someone who had already broken into the Bluebirds' squad during their time in the Championship, and while no one wants a relegation on their CV, the 24-year-old's time in League One has done him the world of good, and has seen him boast the best single-season numbers of his career.
Eight goals and five assists heading into the final day would be even more if he hadn't missed time with an ankle injury earlier in the season. Nevertheless, he's still shone brightly enough to warrant a 7.07 average rating this term.

In terms of expected goals conceded this season, Bolton Wanderers have the best defence in the league in terms of limiting quality chances for the opposition, and at the heart of that defence is Eoin Toal.
The Trotters missed Toal's commanding presence last season after numerous injury issues, which limited him to just 19 games all year. Now, he's started 35 of Bolton's 45 League One outings so far, and it's clear to see the difference.
The Northern Irishman will be hoping to lift the play-off final trophy over the bank holiday weekend next month, capping off what has been a great season for him personally.

Mathias Ross' debut campaign in England after his release from Galatasaray has been tumultuous to say the least. He joined a Plymouth side who had lost their first four games, and didn't have an immediate impact to drag them up the table.
That being said, as Argyle eased into the season, so did the Dane, and he's been ever-present in this run of one defeat in 11 games; a run which has given Tom Cleverley's side a faint chance of finishing in the play-offs.
Plymouth still arguably needs defensive upgrades in the upcoming summer, especially if Alex Mitchell's loan move from Charlton Athletic can't be made permanent, but those upgrades will be to play alongside their 7.09-rated centre-back, rather than to replace him.

Jack Moylan being placed just 19th will likely surprise both Lincoln and wider League One fans, as the Irishman has been the star man for the Imps during this 28-game unbeaten run, which has seen them secure the third-tier title.
The 24-year-old returned from a lengthy ankle operation as a different player in November, and his run in the team has coincided with that unbeaten run, where he has netted 11 and assisted a further five.
He's been one of the best players in the league this year and was rightly nominated for Player of the Season. However, WhoScored have just given him a 7.09 rating for the work he has done to get himself recognised as such.

Burton Albion's status as a League One club has been confirmed for another year, yet again, and a lot of it has been down to Jake Beesley's line-leading excellence.
The 29-year-old began the campaign in great form, getting on the end of numerous high-end chances and scoring goals.
Unfortunately, that goalscoring dried up towards the end of the season, but despite a current run of one goal in 15, his teammates have helped pick up the scoring load, while Beesley remained a dangerous target man for Gary Bowyer's side.
Because of that early-season form, Beesley retained a high WhoScored rating and heads into the final week of the campaign averaging 7.11.

The League One Player of the Season seemed a foregone conclusion inside the opening months of the campaign, with Amario Cozier-Duberry being the source of everything good at Bolton.
That culminated in him picking up two goals and two assists in the 4-0 win over Port Vale, and while the Brighton and Hove Albion loanee arguably hasn't been the same player since, with a knee injury not helping that notion, either, he's still been a dangerous outlet for Steven Schumacher, and has ended the year with a 7.11 rating.
He marked his first start back after the injury, which took him out for over two months, with a brace against Stevenage. He'd then back that up with a couple of assists in the 3-3 draw with Huddersfield Town.
If he's back to his early-season best, then Bolton will be difficult to stop in the play-offs.

Wycombe Wanderers centre-back Dan Casey only just qualifies for this WhoScored ratings list, as he has played just 25 games, which is the required threshold.
And, given his current run of nine games out with a hamstring injury has coincided with the Chairboys' late play-off surge completely collapsing, it shows how important he has been when fit and in favour.
The Irishman didn't get much of an opportunity earlier in the season under Mike Dodds, but since Michael Duff arrived in October, he's been one of the first names on the teamsheet, and nine of Wycombe's 14 clean sheets have come in the 25 games he's played in.
