Euro 2028: opening in Cardiff, final in London

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced this Wednesday that the city of London will host the final of the European Championship – Euro 2028, scheduled for July 9, 2028, at the legendary Wembley Stadium.

The opening match of Euro 2028 will be played in Cardiff

In the same statement, UEFA revealed that the opening match will take place in the Welsh capital, Cardiff, at the national stadium on June 9, 2028.

This 18th edition of the European competition will be co-hosted by England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

In total, 24 teams will compete across 51 matches held in several iconic cities across the UK and Ireland.

UEFA also specified that matches will be played at three fixed kick-off times: 14:00, 17:00, and 20:00 (GMT).

It is worth recalling that the Euro 2024 final was held at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin (Germany), where the Spanish Roja clinched the European title by defeating England 2-1, bringing their tally of continental triumphs to four (1964, 2008, 2012, and 2024).
